When I began to listen to "Love Me Harder" it instantly grabbed my soul. The sound itself when I closed my eyes to get a mental picture, had me sitting in a Juke Joint or an old Saloon sitting at a table by myself with a half-empty bottle of aged whiskey, trying to drown my sorrows. Then all of sudden the lights highlighted the band with this blues catch tune and then this soulful voice appeared out of now where. When we listen to music, we want to feel something and I can definitely say that "Love Me Harder" will make you feel some type of emotion about the relationship that you're in.
The lyrics are heartfelt and they tell a story about a woman who wants some good loving from her man. It began good and now that time has set in the love that he showed before is not the same. The music backs the lyrics in a way that one can't help to feel the rhythm and blues that are cast off. The way the saxophone comes in you can feel the sensation running through your body like a cold chill. I enjoy songs that take me to different places, and "Love Me Harder" does just that. I also think of what artist that comes to mind when I listen to new music and when it comes to this song I get a similar feeling when I listened to Amy Winehouse.
Colleen Orender has intertwined rhythm and blues with jazz to perfection with "Love Me Harder." When I listened to this song, it immediately had me wondering about what else Colleen Orender has in her vault. As I listened to more of her material, I have become a fan. Just like "Love Me Harder" her music has substance, has meaning and it is full of heartfelt emotion. However, you don't have to take my word for it, take a listen yourself so that you can feel the sensation of that rhythm, blues, and jazz of Colleen Orender's "Love Me Harder".
