The American singer-songwriter who’s vastly known for his hit single Mine released back in 2017, Bazzi, is back with another great single Young & Alive. On March 3rd, Bazzi surprisingly announced the new song Young & Alive on Twitter, which was released shortly after on March 5th, 12 pm EST. As a big fan of his, I was very excited to hear he is already releasing new music after just putting out a mixtape, Soul Searching, back in August 2019.
If you have been waiting for a new song to come out that is perfect for the summertime – well… this Pop/R&B song is for you!
Honestly, the title speaks for itself. The entire song is all about truly feeling young and alive. The song is highly reminiscent of his childhood-teenage years – recalling what felt like simpler times and how his current girlfriend gives him the ability to return to this sense of youth and freedom he once felt.

Bazzi truly created exactly what he wanted, and it's amazing. Each section of Young & Alive really radiates a ‘good vibes only’ feeling with such nostalgic lyrics mixed with a lighthearted and joyful melody. The song starts on a very simple but powerful note with Bazzi singing “ridin’ my bike like I’m too young to drive, careless and free like it’s 2005.” In my opinion, those lyrics are so powerful, because even if you weren’t born before 2005 – the lyrics draw you into a nostalgic state of mind over your own childhood.
This feeling of nostalgia is represented throughout the entire song with more lyrics like “H.A.G.S., hope your summer goes well” and “Friday night lights, Friday night air.” For me, these lyrics really hit deep and brought back so many memories because they represent a pretty big chunk of my happy childhood memories.
