The creative behind River Bears Studios, Isra Batista

Isra Batista found himself in Orlando Florida in 2014 setting out to receive his degree from Full Sail University. He got into percussion at a young age and has accumulated 20 years of experience in the music industry so far. What began as "a tiny studio" in his home, would eventually evolve into River Bear Studios today. Three beardy, bear-like partners, started River Bear Studios in Florida, and 3300+Climbing has had the pleasure of talking to Isra and gained some insight about his time in the industry.

"How can the vibe and environment of a recording studio affect the performance of an artist?"

100%. 100%. That is literally all that matters. If somebody goes to a studio, the studio is messy, doesn't have a nice vibe, the lights aren't in the way that the audience like it, it definitely affects a lot. Because artists, they're always thinking of what they see on YouTube. They go to YouTube and they see the big artists in these top end studios, so they wanna feel like they're in that studio as well.

"How has creating an open and honest relationship with both clients and potential clients contributed to the success of your business?"

100% because basically, some artists, they wanna go to a studio to be sugar coated. They wanna hear, "Oh, you're awesome, you're amazing," you're this and that. But you also have clients that they also wanna grow. They wanna grow, they wanna learn. And we've established this reputation where, if you come here, we're gonna be honest with you. And that's gonna help you grow. In here, we're gonna try and bring the best out of you.

"With artists and fans making music and experiencing shows from home. What will your company be doing to transition back out of the current pandemic?"

The thing is, everybody is realizing that, yes, you can do things out of your home, but that doesn't mean that they're gonna come out as nice. Most people that are doing, that are learning, you cannot compare... Engineering and doing production is not something that you can just do in a couple months. When you work, when you get to the level that I am, you have over 10 years... When I have over 10, 15 years out of experience, I already know what to do. I don't need to go on Google and YouTube looking for how to do this, how to do that. So there's that insecurity, sense of insecurity when somebody does something themselves. Myself, for example, whenever I do... When I was doing my taxes, I can do it on TurboTax for free, but I feel more safe and secure if I go to my accountant.

"When it comes to starting out in the industry, how can someone learn to follow more without fading into the background?"

Okay, the trick... Here's the trick. If you go to any type of business, the first thing you gotta do, you gotta analyze the strengths and the weaknesses of each business. You notice a weakness, and you can become better at it. You know there's that means and that necessity.

As a graduate himself, Isra Batista recently spoke to Full Sail students in an insightful presentation this month. He "enjoys watching students who have gone through his mentorship, and making it." River Bear Studios is in the perfect location and features a live room offering the perfect opportunity for artists to sound larger than life.
