League of Legends, an online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games, has been using music for than an atmosphere for many years. Now, they have a partnership with Universal Music Publishing to create cinematic songs through songwriting.
Riot Games creative Thomas Tang states “to bring more beautiful music experiences to LoL players in China and around the world, as we always put player experiences first." The creatives of League of Legends express there appreciation of the music and how it matters for the experience of their audience. For recent League of Legends World Championship Tournaments, Augmented Reality (AR) was used to create an enhanced 3D experience for their live performances. K/DA, League of Legends' virtual K-Pop group consisting of characters from the game, reveled their debut single "Pop/Stars" on the live stage showcasing League of Legends multimedia uniqueness.
Universal putting their songwriters first has made originality and creativity a main focus for the Shanghai song camp. The partnership between Riot Games and Universal is great for the future of multimedia experiences.
