#saveourstages campaign floods social media to save performance venues from closure!

Amidst the pandemic the music industry has been flipped upside down and artists have been hit with the inability to perform live. While the majority of artists income is generated through touring and live shows, nearly ALL of the income of stages and other performance venues comes from touring and live shows... and because of the pandemic, many of them of them are being faced with the possibility of having to close its doors.

A recent campaign has surfaced supporting the survival of stages and venues through out the pandemic. #saveourstages has appeared across social media in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the venues that desperately deserve to stay open. There has been a wave of artists, bands, and venues organizing virtual concerts raising funds to benefit the #saveourstages campaign. In North Carolina, artists across genres joined together to release Cover Charge: NC Artists Go Under Cover To Benefit Cat's Cradle, a community effort presented by notable artists connected to the area to help save Carrboro's 50 year old venue the 'Cat's Cradle'. The project featured 25 cover tracks of popular songs recorded by 25 notable independent artists connected to the community of North Carolina. Just some of the artists featured in the album were Mandolin Orange, Hiss Golden Messenger, Iron and Wine, The Mountain Goats, and Faith Jones.

As a hashtag, Save Our Stages had garnered over 23K posts on Instagram, and countless creatives have joined the movement to raise donations for the very stages they love to perform.
