One of the biggest virtual music festivals known to man is upon us and it will all take place in the best selling video game of all time Minecraft. Rave Family Block Fest, formerly known as Electric Blockaloo, is a Minecraft EDM festival with one of the biggest lineups you will probably ever see. Over 900 artists will be playing in this 4-day virtual music festival. With big names like Steve Aoki, ZHU, Above and Beyond, Flux Pavilion, Diplo, and more, this is an experience for any EDM or Minecraft fan worth waiting for!
How will it work? You may ask:
During the festival, there will be 65 stages attendees can jump back and forth from. Each stage will have multiple servers, so no need to worry if one server your favored artist is playing on is full! An attendee can also explore and play games throughout the stages. Looking at how amazing some Minecraft builders are, I can't even begin to imagine what each stage will look like. Attendees will also be able to build personal, in-game camps near the festival grounds. This virtual festival just got real.
The artists are really performing? You also may ask:
At first glance, you may be thinking "There's no way this is real." But it seems like numerous artists from the lineup are taking to their social media and announcing that they will be performing at Block Fest. Some even have their own posters made for them. This event is put on by Rave Family and they are working with Mixcloud to ensure all the artists will be getting paid while they are streaming. Rave Family will be donating the proceeds they receive to charities. As well as many of the artists stated that they will be donating their proceeds to charities of their choices as well. Upon purchasing a ticket, you get to choose which artist you would like to support whether it be if you want to do it for their charity or to support that artist in general.
How Do I Join? You may really want to ask:
The festival takes place from July 9th - July 13th. You will need 2 things: Minecraft downloaded on your phone, desktop, laptop, or Oculus Rift and a ticket to get into the festival! Tickets are $10 for general entry and $25 for VIP. You can purchase a ticket on the Rave Family website. You can also join the Rave family on Discord, to meet excited festival-goers, or ask any questions you may have!
