The COVID-19 pandemic shook the world and, in the music industry specifically, enacted a large need to innovate to stay afloat. Landr, the popular online software that provides mastering services at affordable prices to artists, recently launched a new Pro Network opening up a wave of opportunities for artists and producers to collaborate. In terms of the recent pandemic, this allows for the same in-person collaborations to occur through a secure online platform. Landr “[is] working for musicians, but also believe[s] in protecting an ecosystem–the new network is everything that a creator needs in order to offer his contributions to other creators,” while maintaining safety through web interaction (CEO Pascal Pilon).
From a customer standpoint, the platform is free. Customers can visit the online marketplace and ‘shop’ for different artists, producers, and songwriters to work with while allowing professionals to promote their skills and network with creatives from around the world. As a professional, a profile is created highlighting an experience, “genre specialization, recent work, affiliates, credit, creative services, endorsements and more” (Stassen, 2020). The pro network is a hub for all things creative and business. Professionals can use the marketplace to manage their relationships with clients, with all of the tools needed to run your music business. The marketplace features tools allowing professionals to delegate tasks, manage contracts and billing, and monitor workflow. The network also features integrated video chat for personal communication eliminating the need for the professionals to physically be in the same space.
Landr’s hub for all creation and business management features a list of professionals that are available to hire. This list features some of the top-rated professionals in the industry to include Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Howie Weinberg, and Steve Levine, former producer to the Culture Club and the Clash. With these top professionals available at the fingertips of creatives with transparent pricing, users know exactly what the will be paying for services and artists have an idea as to how much the will be paid.
Landr has already created a solid platform providing mastering and distribution services to creatives. With this new pro network professionals have the opportunity to create collaborations and manage the business side from their own space. As our world has been shaken with the COVID pandemic, Landr is offering professionals the opportunity to make up for a lack of ability to collaborate in person with this new networking community.
