You might remember her from her days in the girl group, Fifth Harmony, or from her duet with Khalid for the song ‘Love Lies’, a soundtrack for the movie ‘Love, Simon’ or more recently, from her new song with Calvin Harris and international artiste, Wizkid titled ‘Checklist’. Our artiste spotlight is on the beautiful Normani Kordei. Normani, the breakout pop star who just started her solo career has been heating up the news and topping the charts with her new singles.
Normani began to make news from her performance at the 2012 season of The XFactor USA where she performed ‘Chain of Fools’ by Aretha Franklin. She later joined some other contestants and they formed the girl band, Fifth Harmony. Several albums later, the group members decided to go on an indefinite break, so they could focus on their solo careers and that’s exactly what she has done.
Tagged the Collabo queen by Billboard.com, Normani is teasing her fans and the media with possible big-time collaborations, one of which recently dropped with Calvin Harris. Other big names she has plans to collaborate with include Ester Dean and Missy Elliott. Now, the comeback of a legend and the rise of a new solo artist might just be the collaboration we need to shake up the airways! “She’s the one I’ve looked up to since I was a little girl,” she told Billboard in April about Missy Elliot.
With hits like ‘Waves’ and captivating dance moves and performances at events like the TIDAL x Brooklyn fundraiser at the Barclays Center, Normani is someone you definitely want to watch out for.
