Amazon Music Launches in Brazil

Written by: Rita de Moura

Amazon Music is an online music shop and streaming service created by Amazon. This project launched in 2007,  was the first online store to sell music from EMI, Warner, Sony and Universal without digital rights management, which  is a set of technologies that allow the use, modification, and distribution of copyrighted works.

This streaming service has been a huge success since it first launched and has been growing over the years. Amazon Music already operates in 28 other countries and is willing to keep expanding. For that reason, the company announced that they are launching operations in Brazil and several other countries in a short period of time.

The will to expand to Brazil can easily be explained since Brazil has the largest music market in South American and also the ninth largest market worldwide, creating a high demand for companies such as Amazon Music and also great opportunities. The arrival of Amazon to this new market could increase their income and put them up against their other competitors such as Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music.
