"All I Want For Christmas Is You" The Song Continuous to Gain Momentum Each Year


It is the most wonderful time of the year. Yes, Christmas time is upon us, and even though this year’s festivities are different from the past holiday season. (COVID) One thing that ceases to change is the success of one unique Christmas song.

"All I Want for Christmas Is You” The song was written and recorded by Mariah Carey and songwriter Walter Afanasieff in 1994 and reports to have earned

$60 million since 2017.


How does the song continue to be so successful? Along with the singer’s talented voice, it’s a catchy pop song that can resonate with everyone. It’s about a holiday that comes around every year and the theme of the song is all about Christmas and love.

Every year Mariah and Sony Music set out to promote the song.

And, with so many ways of streaming music, the song continues to secure new fans. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” also has an animated movie, featuring Mariah, released in 2017. The pop song has three different music videos.

A children’s book that was created from the song, and it’s become popular internationally.


On Christmas day, in 2018 the song broke Spotify’s single-day record most played with over 10 million plays. In 2019 the song hit over 12 million plays on Spotify, and finally, it hit #1 on Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Once again, this year the song returned to number one with over 22 million streams.

The song has been recorded by many different artists, but no one's been able to pull it off like Mariah Carey.

It continues to make and break the charts on Billboard Top 100 during the holidays since being released 26 years ago.
